These books publish brief summaries of cases decided by major state and/or federal courts. The Texas A&M Library has two such services, Texas Reports and the Southwestern Reporter, which furnish abstracts of cases decided by the Texas Supreme Court. These volumes are indexed only by the name of the person or company suing, and being sued. CHATHAM et al. v. JONES, 7 Southwestern Reporter 600 (1888). Mentions R.K. CHATHAM and R.F. JONES; case involves dispute over contract for machinery. City of Bryan v. PAGE and SIMS, 51 Texas Reports 532 (1897). Case involves whether Bryan should pay two attorneys for their services. COLE et al. v. ADAMS, 46 Southwestern Reporter 790 (1898). Case mentions J.J. ADAMS, J.N. COLE, J.J. BURROUGH, G.W. NORRELL and A.D. McCONNICO; it involves the Bryan Water, Ice and Electric Co. E.G. HORNE v. R.K. CHATHAM & Co., 64 Texas Reports 36 (1885). Dispute over a patent for a cotton gin. E.H. CUSHING v. P.R. SMITH & Co., 43 Texas Reports 261 (1875). Lawsuit involved debt owed by P.R. SMITH & Co.; confusion occurred because SMITH was a partner in two businesses with the same name. One was a banking and commission house, with which O.P. BOWLES was associated. The other dealt in dry goods and general merchandise; C.A. STERNE and J.J. ADAMS were associated with the latter company. Ex Parte CANTO, 17 Southwestern Reporter 155 (1886). Mentions Gus CANTO, James GILLIARD, Mr. LASKER, and Judge SMITH; CANTO appealed his conviction for selling meat outside of the Bryan market house. GOOCH v. PARKER, 41 Southwestern Reporter 662 (1897). Case mentions G.S. PARKER and Ira GOOCH and concerns insurance for building which burned. Gulf, C. & S.F. Ry. Co. v. Case mentions DUNLAP and MILLICAN, and involves flooding caused by railroad tracks. HAIRSTON v. State, 37 Southwestern Reporter 858 (1896). T.H. HAIRSTON appealed his conviction for practicing medicine without a license. HANNAMAN v. State, 33 Southwestern Reporter 538 (1895). H.J. HANNAMAN appealed his conviction for selling beer to a minor. Houston & T.C. Ry. Co. v. C.S. GORBETT, 49 Texas Reports 573 (1878). GORBETT was injured while getting off a train in Bryan. Houston & T.C. Ry. Co. v. LEE, 7 Southwestern Reporter 324 (1888). Miss Lizzie LEE sued the railroad, because she was injured in a derailment. HUDSON, Thomas F. v. S.W. WILKINSON, 61 Texas Reports 606 (1884). Case also mentions E.D. STEWART and R.W. DEAN; it involves a dispute over the ownership of a wagon and two mules. J.H. BARTEE v. Houston and Texas Central Railway Company, 36 Texas Reports 648 (1871/72). BARTEE sued the railroad because his wagon, team and servent were hit and injured by a train. J.M. BECKHAM and Another v. T.C. HUNTER, Adm'r, 37 Texas Reports 551 (1872/73). Case involves mortgages on crops and farming tools. John S. WILSON v. John ADAMS, 15 Texas Reports 323 (1855). Case involves pay of plantation overseer. JOHNSON et al. v. BAILEY et al., 15 Southwestern Reporter 499 (1891). Case mentions Charles W. TAYLOR and Joel J. BAILEY, and involves merchandise samples. KRALL et al. v. Campbell Printing Press & Manufacturing Co., 15 Southwestern Reporter 565 (1891). Case mentions people named FANKREL, STASNEY, MAREK, GRACE, FRANKLIN, WITEMAN, MORSE, KERNOLE, DANSBY, COLE, HULL and others, and concerns debts of a Czech newspaper. MOORE v. State and Others, 3 Southwestern Reporter 448 (1887). Case mentions Mrs. Jane CALLEN, Margaret MOORE, Tom MOORE, A.G. STEELE, F.M. STEELE and I.Y. CHINSKI, and involves cattle and a mortgage. PRINZEL v. State, 33 Southwestern Reporter 350 (1895). August PRINZEL appealed his conviction for selling medicated bitters (a very alcholic "medicine") without a license. SCHWARTZ v. State, 24 Southwestern Reporter 28 (1893). Jake SCHWART appealed his conviction for selling liquor without posting his license. SIMMONS et al. v. RHODES, 27 Southwestern Reporter 903 (1894). Mentions H.G. RHODES and B.M. SIMMONS; case involved mortgaged equipment. SONKA v. CHATHAM et al., 21 Southwestern Reporter 948. R.K. CHATHAM & Co. sued Joseph SONKA to recover the price of equipment SONKA purchased. State ex rel. v. HUDSON v. ROHDE et al., 25 Southwestern Reporter 688 (1894). Henry ROHDE was prosecuted for allowing his son, a minor, to enter and remain in his saloon; case also mentions J.P. BORROUGH, A.B. CARR and V.B. HUDSON. THOMAS v. MORSE, 16 Southwestern Reporter 48 (1891). Case mentions J.D. THOMAS, W.B. MORSE and a Mr. SKAINS, and involves mortgaged land. Wade C. MOSELEY v. Robert S. FARRELL, 31 Texas Reports 613 (1869).
